Kenney Cottage Garden
The Agency has leased 1631 Fifth Street and is negotiating sale terms for use of a former residential lot, long vacant to Northern California Land Trust (NCLT). NCLT has in turn leased the lot to Friends of the Kenney Cottage Garden for establishment of a fully ADA compliant community garden with model infrastructure development and is partnering with the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association (BAHA) to rehabilitate and relocate the historic Kenney Cottage to the garden setting. Friends of the Kenney Cottage are seeking plot holders, volunteers, and donations in partnership with BAHA. You can find additional information on the Friends of the Kenney Cottage on their website, http://www.fkcog.org.
The Agency sought development partners through a public process. The proposed development is consistent with a community driven process reflected in an RFP released in 2008.
